Voices Silenced: How Social Injustices Crush Youth Potentia

Uganda’s Youth Majority

Over 75% of Uganda’s population is under 30. On paper, this is a gift — a young, energetic, creative population. But in reality, it is a tragedy: the youth majority remains voiceless.

Barriers Everywhere

Subpar education locks doors.

Unemployment forces dependence.

Corruption and favoritism bury merit.

Politics sidelines the majority in favor of a few.

The result? Talents wasted, innovation stifled, potential buried.

The Human Toll

Some youth turn to crime, drugs, or risky migration routes.

Others sink into silent depression, convinced their dreams no longer matter.

This is not accidental — it is systemic injustice. And when youth are silenced, nations stagnate.

Breaking the Chains

Uganda’s progress depends on freeing youth voices. The young must move from being statistics to being leaders, decision-makers, and innovators.

DOY’s Commitment

At DOY, we amplify silenced voices and demand inclusion.

We call on policymakers, institutions, and partners to work with us in building a Uganda where youth are heard, empowered, and central to national progress.

If youth are the future, then muting them today is a betrayal.
